SHE WAS HAPPY 'TIL SHE MET YOU

Twas on a bright and sunny day
When a young wife went away
From her husband
Who had wronged her heart with pain.
On the table lay a note.
These simple words she wrote:
"Good-bye, I hope we'll never meet again."
Unto her mother she returned,
The hope of which she had oftime yearned
For every spark of love for him had fled.
There he had sought her at last
With repentance for the past;
Her mother met him at the door,
Said,"She was happy 'til she met you,
And the fault is all your own,
If she wishes to forget you,
You will please leave her alone.
She has come to her old mother
Because there is no other.
She'll be happy in her own sweet home."
"I've just come to say good-bye,"
Said the husband with a sigh.
"Just let me take her to my heart again."
But the mother said, "Too late.
All her love has turned to hate.
So go your way; all your pleadings are in vain."
"She is my wife!" the husband cried.
You cannot take her from my side!
The law forbids you part us!" We are wed!"
"You are wed, but you have broken every vow.
She is yours no longer now
And my daughter shall not go!" the mother said
CHORUS:She was happy 'til she met your
And the fault is all your own.
If she wishes to forget you, please leave her alone.
She has come to her old mother
Just because there is no other.
She will be happy in her own sweet home
